Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
There is some really good news this morning! By the time you read this Reader John Henson and his wife, Kimberly, should be the proud parents of a newly born baby boy. When I spoke to Reader John last night Kimberly was very close to giving birth. I will be going by Union General Hospital later today to read the appropriate prayers over her and visit for a little bit.
The other really good news is that this weekend we will celebrate our parish feast day, as we will transfer our observation of St. Nicholas Day to Sunday. Our patron is a most extraordinary saint!
Our schedule this weekend begins with the third class concerning Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, followed by vespers for St. Nicholas at 5:00 p.m. Sunday morning will see Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. followed by a pot luck luncheon.
Next week, we will serve small compline on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, we will have the last class of our "A Christmas Carol" series at 4:00 p.m. followed by Great Vespers. On Sunday, December 16, we have the first of the two preparatory Sundays before the Nativity, the Sunday of the Holy Fathers.
For any of you in an area under a winter storm watch, be careful! But I hope to see everyone this weekend.
